George and Martha Washington: A Love Story

George and Martha Washington: A Love Story In-Person

Join historical interpreters Alisa Dupuy and Curt Radabaugh as they bring Martha and George Washington to life at HVL!

Come and hear from America's "First Couple " - how they met, their marriage, families, responsibilities and, of course, about their love.

At the start of the American Revolution, Martha and George Washington were in their 40s, a vibrant couple in middle age. They lived, loved and had their joys as well as their trials. George and Martha had a strong and loving relationship, and their marriage lasted over 40 years. During the war, Martha joined George every winter in camp so that they could be together, and so that she could provide the support and warmth he needed to maintain his morale. This is a chance to learn more about their emotional and romantic story.
